Understand the human risk. Strengthen your defence. Build cyber resilience.
Spearphishing.
Spear phishing is a highly targeted form of social engineering where attackers send deceptive emails that appear to come from a trusted source. They use information gathered from online sources; social media, public records, or previous breaches, to personalise the message and build false trust.
These emails often:
Include malicious attachments or links
Demand urgent action
Impersonate colleagues or suppliers
Because the emails feel familiar, recipients are more likely to act without question, often leading to serious data breaches or financial loss.

IT consulting and managed services
A full red team exercise that tested people, technology and leadership in one engagement.
What the work covered: Spear phishing simulation, penetration testing and a C-suite crisis simulation
The challenge
An award-winning IT consulting and managed services provider wanted to find and fix cyber risks before an attacker did. It needed testing that went beyond a standard vulnerability scan or penetration test and covered human factors as well as technical weaknesses.
The approach
CyberQ ran a multi-part red team exercise: targeted spear phishing simulations to test staff awareness, penetration testing to find technical vulnerabilities, and a C-suite cyber simulation to test how leadership would respond in a crisis.
The result
Findings were prioritised for remediation, the incident response plan was updated with lessons from the tabletop exercise, and the leadership team came away better able to make decisions during a cyber crisis.

attack angles tested in one exercise: people, technology and leadership
C-suite
crisis simulation alongside the technical testing

Socialengineering.
Social engineering is a form of cyber deception that targets people, not systems. It exploits human behaviour to trick individuals into giving away sensitive data, financial details, or network access. Rather than hacking into software, attackers manipulate people, making it one of the most effective and low-effort forms of cybercrime. Even poorly researched attacks can succeed by casting a wide net.
This tactic is increasingly common, and it’s harder to detect than you might think.
